18 Marlins have recently been battling it out against the best swimmers in the south east. Securing a qualifying time reflects hard graft in training and many hours in the water.

Swimming in the youth regional's (14 years and older) over 2 weekends at K2 and Portsmouth Mai Alland (16) took gold in the 50m free in a new regional record of 26.55. Also taking silver in the 50m breast. She is clearly in good form going into Nationals next month. Mai said 'next season I will be looking to add distance swimming to my CV and will be going all out to qualify for the 800 meters'
Club Captain Matt Gibson (15) has worked extremely hard in training and qualified for 9 events. 'Stayer' Matt is a long distance expert taking 4th place in the 1500 event. He explained 'I will be pushing myself to the limit to secure a 2011 national time'
Dave Masters (16) qualified for 9 events taking bronze in the 200 IM he said after ' I didn't attack the wall on the last length and the other guy grabbed 2nd. it was all very disappointing !'
Back stroke expert Oliver Dickie (15) came 9th in the 50m back while ever improving Chris Coxhill (15) came 14th in the 100 free. Both swimmers harbour ambitions for 2011 National qualification.
In the younger Age Group section held over 2 weekends at K2 Annabel Curtis (11) made an astonishing 6 qualifying times. Swimming 5 session a week in the Silver Squad has certainly helped Annabel progress. She explained ' I really enjoyed swimming the 200 IM using all the strokes. I want to make sure to qualify for next year but in the short term looking forward to the upcoming Sussex League team galas'. Coach Angela Gibson said ' it was a huge achievment '
![]() 2016 Rio Olympic hopeful Ollie Goodhew (12) qualified for 8 events taking silver in the 1500m (19.21) he explained ' had I swum a PB the gold medal would have come back to the triangle' Hmm !! press officer Bowman understands that the silver medal never made it out of the changing room after Ollie 'misplaced it'. If he does win a medal in Rio then he will need to make sure it comes back to Sussex !
Nick Rawbin (13) is also going well competing in 8 events.
