| Marlins AGE GROUP Press coverage |
Hi all Just to introduce myself, Colin Bowman, as Marlins Age Group Swimming press officer. (Since 1st Feb 2010). I will be aiming to submit one major article per week into the Mid Sussex Times but will be very happy to add in any 'extra' pieces. The main weekly piece will surround the 'hot topic' of the week and the extra pieces can be any thing related to Marlin involvment. I hope to present the articles in a factual but lighthearted way with a personnal touch to the swimmers with plenty of photos of smiling faces. Please watch for these in the Middy on Thursdays (deadline the previous Monday evening) and on the notice boards plus everything has now been back loaded to this web site. Please contact me on bowmansgang@aol.com with any 'stories' you have plus any feedback on the articles so far both bad or good. Watch out, you could be next 'under the spotlight'. Best Regards.
Colin PS. 2010 is big year for the Marlins !

| Coach Recommends |
|
Not sure what equipment to get for swimming training? Coach Beth Ross has laid down the following recommendations as to what equipment it would be best to have in training. Please note that these are not requirements to have, meerly allowing you to make the best decisions should you choose to buy equipment to use in your training. Please note the images selected are merely examples to give you an idea of suitable equipment. Fins/Flippers
Win Turbo The most appropriate type of fins are the long fins. These are better than the short fins as they allow more control over your technique. The short fins are only suitable for the strongest of swimmers. Please speak to Beth if you are unsure. Snorkels
The recommended snorkels are the Finis snorkels which come in two sizes - Junior and Senior
The size is important and most swimmers will be better off with the senior (blue) snorkel as it will last them throughout their swimming lives. The junior snorkel is smaller and may be suitable for younger swimmers as it will fit better. The following rules can used as a guide: Ages 10+ years - Blue Paddles
Speedo Tech Beth recommends the full-hand, curved type that maximise the feel of the water. Get the appropriate size for the swimmer which should be only slightly bigger than the hand.
