Olympos Marlins Swimming Club is one of the top competitive swimming clubs in Sussex fast becoming one of the best in the Southern Region. In 2007 the Marlins A Team were crowned Champions of the Speedo League South Division 1 (East) and have earned themselves a deserved place in the Southern Premier League in 2008, a challenge we look forward to with great relish. To demonstrate the depth of the Marlins we also have one of the highest placed 2nd teams in the Speedo League with our 2007 team winning their final gala to be placed 9th in Division 2 (East). On an individual basis we have a number of County & Regional champions and a squad of National swimmers. Our aims for 2008 are to improve on our numbers, which we are very confident we will accomplish. It's not always about competitive swimming and the Marlins understand this and have a huge structured environment for the development of learners in our Learn To Swim programme. Swimmers begin life in the Marlins in Grade 1 and move through the club up to Grade 10, nicknamed 'Minisquad'. From here they can take the advanced competitive route up through Bronze, Silver, Junior Gold and Gold where swimmers are actively encouraged to race under the Marlins name, or take the less demanding and not necessarily competitive route through the Training Squads (starting at T3 up to T1). A high training ethic is expected in all groups and squads, and children are always encouraged to take part in competitions, whether they be in-club competitions, like the 2008 Development Series or the Club Championships, or inter-club competitions like the Speedo & Sussex Leagues, Open Meets and County, Regional and National Championships. Every Marlin will get every opportunity. |
